GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal met popular YouTubers, Dimpu Baruah, Bhukan Pathak, Go Guwahati Gone and Bikash Chetry among others in a meeting to promote Assam outside the region.
The Assam government aims to promote regional content such as Bihu and the state’s monuments through these popular influencers. G Plus spoke to Samar Baruah of Go Guwahati Gone who revealed the interest shown by the Chief Minister himself for this initiative. "The aim is similar to Awesome Assam. This will be called 'Discovering Assam', which will try to portray Assam outside the region to showcase its elements."
The Chief Minister also asked them suggestions to better the YouTube scenario in the state. "I suggested that there should be a lack of restrictions for the YouTubers and compensation for them as done in other states. This will help us to promote Assam better, " Samar told G Plus.
The YouTube scene has erupted in Assam in recent years post better availability of 4G services with names such as Dimpu Baruah and Voice Assam reaching more than 1 million subscribers.
