GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal felicitated Assamese Boxers, Lovlina Borgohain and Jamuna Boro for their brilliant performance at the Women’s World Boxing Championship held in Ula-Ude, Russia by presenting them with a cheque of Rs 20 lakh each.
The programme was organised at Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium, Sarusajai.
Golaghat’s Lovlina had to settle for bronze as she was defeated by China’s Yang Liu in the 69 kg category in a split-decision of 2:3 to end her campaign at the championship.

On the other hand, Sonitpur’s Jamuna Boro also settled for bronze after her defeat in the semi-final match of the championship.
