GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday July 22, congratulated the two women leading the much-anticipated launch of India’s moon mission Chandrayan 2.
The CM took to Twitter to express his appreciation and wrote:
“Also it is a matter of immense pride that the nation's 2nd lunar mission is being helmed by two RevolutioNaaris: Smt Muthya Vanitha as Project Director & Smt Ritu Karidhal as the Mission Director. My best wishes to them and here's more to #NariShakti. #Chandrayaan2”

As per reports, this was the first-of-kind mission where two women led the project.
It is also to be mentioned that, Assam’s J N Goswami was also the chairman of the advisory board for Chandrayan 2 and hails from Jorhat.
Prior to this, Goswami was also the chief scientist of Mangalyan and Chandrayan 1 and was the developer of the project.
The ambitious mission of ISRO lifted off from Sriharikota today, July 22, in the afternoon at 2.43 pm.
Chandrayaan 2 took off aboard the most powerful GSLV-Mk-III rocket.
