GUWAHATI: Following India's celebration and applauds for Hima das who brought laurels to the country despite difficult upbringing, the Assam government is all set to felicitate the golden girl on 7 September at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.
This would be a state level felicitation programme as announced by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal earlier.
Sonowal has announced an award of Rs. 1.6 crore for her historic feat at the recently concluded Asian Games 2018.

Despite tough competition, Hima Das won one gold and two silver medals at the Asiad.
"It was a wonderful moment for me winning silver medal for my country in the Asian Games. Thank you everyone for your support. Looking forward to my other events," said Hima in a tweet.
