The people of Guwahati are happy that Gauhati (East) MLA, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, has been included in the ministry and with Guwahati Development Department (GDD) coming under him, people feel that the city will now truly develop.
Councillor of Ward No 9, Rajkumar Tewari said, “He is a true BJP worker and knows Guwahati better than anybody.” The councillor revealed that in the last two years as an MLA, the legislator worked for the people and various development initiatives were undertaken by him.
A source in Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said, “Bhattacharya has chaired many developmental meetings in the department and has, many a time, expressed dissatisfaction at the pace of developmental works by the department.”
Bhattacharya, in the last two years as an MLA, has never hesitated to meet the public and has chaired many public meetings listening to public grievances and even finding solutions for the grievances.
Many a time, Bhattacharya has publicly accused the Guwahati Municipal Corporation officials of not working efficiently to resolve various public issues.
After his induction in the ministry, his supporters from the constituency have thronged his residence with their wishes. The supporters, talking to G Plus said, “We are happy that he will head GDD and help in developing Guwahati.”
Along with GDD, Bhattacharya will also handle education (elementary and higher secondary) and law & justice.
