City Bus Monitoring to get more Rigorous from Tomorrow: Kamrup (M) DTO

GUWAHATI: In a press meet held at the premises of the Regional Transport Authority, Kamrup (M) DTO, Bapan Kalita said that the drive against city buses plying on the streets of Guwahati will be conducted in a rigorous manner.

Kalita further said, "We have given the bus operators two days of time to display route number, permit number and also the Whatsapp number is to be displayed on the bus with the dimension as instructed by the government."

It is to be mentioned that authorities said that whosoever is not abiding by the law and the policy as directed, will be penalized and stern action will be taken against them.

The new policy also directs all city buses to have a stoppage time of not more than one minute which was agreed with accordance with the government and bus association.

In Guwahati, 12 enforcement teams have been deployed to check the city buses to ease the problems faced by commuters.

The DTO further urged all the city bus owners to ply their buses on the road provided they follow the rules and policies as it was seen around 30 percent of the buses have gone off the roads to avoid being penalised.

The operation is also being carried out for other public transport vehicles such as Ola, Uber and Tata Magic.
