The cleaning and beautification, illumination and road furbishing work done by Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and District Administration, Kamrup (M) in the wake of Advantage Assam will continue step by step in shortest possible time to cover the entire city. The decision was announced by Dr M. Angamuthu in a press conference with GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania, GMC Commissioner Monalisa Goswami, and Commissioner of Police, Hiren Nath.

To maintain all the work and structure, he asked support from media in particular and public in general.

Some commuters  distorted  the  beauty of the median of the road by spitting and some miscreants also stole the road signages from National Highway and wires of the illumination works, he said. GMDA and NHA jointly had registered an FIR in this regard.

The Deputy Commissioner had also suggested that the journalists of the city and public will work on a comprehensive app, which can monitor the cleanliness work in the city.

Commissioner of Police, Hiren Nath is in favour of taking strict action against anyone who'd ruin the city beautification work. "It's a shame to humanity, miscreants wil be punished as they damaged public property. Citizens of Guwahati can dial 100 and complain if they come across any such incident," he added.
