GUWAHATI: In a scandalous allegation, the parents of a child, born in Marwari Maternity Hospital in Guwahati alleged, that the hospital employees are running a racket of exchanging newborn girl child(s) with the opposite gender.

One pregnant woman, Yasmin Begum from Hajo in Assam, was admitted to the Marwari Maternity Hospital on December 12, and on December 13, she gave birth to a baby boy, according to her family members.

On the morning of December 15, one of the nurses of the hospital took the baby to conduct a jaundice test.

“After waiting for hours they (hospital authorities) were not returning our baby,” said the father of the child, adding that, after we asked for the baby they handed over an infant that the mother recognized and was not the same.

According to the parents, after two hours, they gave them a baby with the same sticker and clothes, but it was a baby girl.

The parents have filed a complaint with the Bharalumukh Police Station.

The hospital officials talking to G Plus said, that they have ordered an enquiry into the incident and that if it was a mistake, the error would be rectified.

Police sources said that they are investigating the matter.

At the time of filing this report (7:10 PM, December 15) the hospital authorities were still investigating and the complainants were still waiting for the correct baby.
