GUWAHATI: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has raised concerns about illegal infiltration from Myanmar and Bangladesh, emphasising the potential impact of Assam’s failure to detect migrants from Bangladesh. Singh said this while addressing reporters on Thursday, January 23.

“If Assam fails to detect illegal infiltrators, they might enter Manipur,” Singh said.
The chief minister highlighted that unchecked migration in Assam could lead to an influx of Bangladeshi migrants into Manipur, as the latter shares a 204-km inter-state border with the former, along with Tripura.

Singh further added that while security forces are vigilant, indigenous communities must also stay alert to prevent infiltration.
