Centre to Pass Ordinance to Set Up North East Water Management Authority

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the central government would take a holistic approach to solve Assam’s recurring flood problem and take steps for passing an ordinance to set up North East Water Management Authority.

CM Sonowal further stated that the Modi-led central government has taken sincere effort to address the flood and erosion problem of Assam.

Sonowal also said that the central government would take steps for passing an ordinance to that effect in the forthcoming session of the parliament.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), at least 19.81 lakh people from 1771 villages in 21 districts continued to remain flood-affected as on July 28.
