The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is making headlines once again, this time by ordering local Assamese news channel, DY365 to go off air for 3 days, starting 0001 hrs (12:00 AM) on December 15, 2017.

The order stated that ‘DY356 had telecast a ‘news report’ on 4th June 2016 where based on a ritual, a man could be seen tossing a new born baby up and down in the air. He hurls and slings the baby in every possible manner and direction without a shred of care and concern. The video means to expose an extremely dangerous superstition allegedly prevalent in some parts of Assam where people believe that undergoing this ritual will keep the child safe. The visuals are extremely disturbing, and not suitable for unrestricted public exhibition.’

Therefore the Central Government exercising powers of Section 20 of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 orders to prohibit the transmission or retransmission of DY365 TV Channel for three days across India with effect from 0001 hrs, December 15, 2017 to December 18, 2017.

G Plus reached out to Sanjeev Jaiswal, the proprietor of DY365 who refused to comment on the matter as of now.
