Centre lists Kaziranga in iconic sites list in India

GUWAHATI: The Central government has included the name of Kaziranga National Park (KNP) in its list of 17 iconic sites to visit in India. 

This list has been created to transform these 17 sites into world-class destinations to boost tourism influx and attract more tourists from across the world, informed Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Union Budget 2019.

It should be noted that Kaziranga, which is famous for its one-horned rhinos is the only site listed from the northeast region. 

These 17 sites across India include destinations from 12 states such as the Taj Mahal in Agra, Ajanta-Ellora caves in Maharashtra, Qutub Minar and Red Fort in Delhi, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, Fatehpur Sikri in Agra etc.
