CBI To Investigate Multi-Crore Investment Scams In Assam

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has decided to hand over the probe into several investment scams that have come to light recently allegedly involving hundreds of crores of rupees to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmatold the media after a Cabinet meeting on Friday, September 13 that 32 cases have already been filed against those involved in the fraudulent activities.

“The state government has decided to hand over all these cases to the CBI. I discussed the matter with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during my visit to Delhi, and he has agreed to let the CBI investigate the scam,” Sarma said in a video on X.

He also indicated that the process of transferring the cases to the CBI could take about a month.

The state government had earlier asked the CID to investigate the cases. The CID, in turn, has formed Special Investigation Teams for the purpose.
