CBI arrests Senior IFS Officer from Assam

GUWAHATI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on March 17, arrested two Indian Forest Service (IFS) officials including one from Assam, for allegedly bribing an environment ministry official.

Diganta Gogoi of Assam was posted in Port Blair and the other arrested officer Tarun Johri was posted in Arunachal Pradesh as chief conservators of the forest.

According to reports the accused were apprehended the CBI for bribing Rs. 20,000 to an official of the environment ministry.

The CBI officer said that Johri had contacted the environment ministry officer and asked him to get the approval of the ministry of environment and forests for making changes in the date in Gogoi’s service record as a chief conservator.
