One of the major initiatives highlighted was the Ministry’s focus on geriatric care. Over 14,000 health camps were organised nationwide, providing care to elderly patients. CARI played a significant role, treating 3,558 geriatric patients, accounting for over 30% of its total patient count since April 2024.

The Northeast’s first dedicated Panchakarma Block, located at CARI, has also seen considerable success, treating more than 4,550 patients with therapeutic care. The facility aims to offer affordable Ayurvedic treatments while advancing research into the effectiveness of Panchakarma therapies.

CARI has also been involved in research programs across Northeast India, such as including a survey on local health traditions and a study of wild edible plants in 12 districts of Assam. The institute also operates a state-of-the-art Pharmacology and Chemistry Laboratory, equipped to conduct drug standardisation and safety evaluations of Ayurvedic formulations.

In the last 100 days, CARI’s pathological lab performed over 19,000 tests, aiming to surpass last year’s total of 50,000 tests. The institute has also signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the College of Veterinary Science in Guwahati, facilitating research in pharmacology.

The press conference emphasised that these initiatives reflect growing public confidence in Ayurvedic medicine, supported by government outreach programs.
