GMCH Reports One Death, 120 Injured In Road Accidents During Durga Puja

 

GUWAHATI: Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has reported 120 cases of injuries in road accidents over a 48-hour period of the Durga Puja festivities while one was brought dead.

Between 8 am on 12 October and 8 am on 14 October, the hospital admitted 120 individuals injured in various accidents that occurred in the city during the celebrations of Navami and Dashami.

Among the reported accidents, 59 occurred within Guwahati, while 61 took place outside the city. The majority of the injured were men, with 112 male patients compared to 8 females. The age group most affected was between 20 and 40 years, comprising 81 of the total cases.

Currently, 24 individuals remain under treatment at GMCH for their injuries.

While most cases are not severe, one tragic incident involved a patient who arrived at the hospital deceased after an accident, with the cause of death pending a post-mortem examination.
