Cab Services Allowed in Guwahati from 20th July Under Certain Strict Conditions

GUWAHATI: The unlocking of Kamrup (M) from Monday is set to bring relief to taxi drivers as the state government has allowed cab services.

The order to unlock states that cab aggregators like Uber, Ola, etc along with auto rickshaws and even manual rickshaws are allowed to operate from Monday.

However, e-rickshaws have been barred to operate during this time.

The cab services will be allowed to operate with only two passengers at any given time with operators carrying negative test report for COVID-19.

Further, operators are responsible for sanitizing their vehicles in front of every new passenger, said Chief Secretary of Assam, Kumar Sanjay Krishna in a press conference on 18th July.

The order comes in pursuance of the guidelines of unlock that prevents all private vehicles from movement in Guwahati except for medical emergencies and official duties.

The order will remain in effect till August 2 and may be revised thereafter.
