GUWAHATI: The Bongaigaon district administration on Friday, banned single-use plastic in all State Government offices with immediate effect.
The administration has banned all types of plastic carry bags, packaging materials, and packets which are less than 50 microns.
After considering the harmful effects of plastic to the environment and health, the Environment and Forest Department of Assam on 10th July, 2019, issued a notification imposing a complete ban on the use, manufacture, import, supply, store, transport, sale and or distribution of plastic carry bags less than 60 mm and thickness less than 50 microns, short life PVC and all chlorinated plastic bags, sheets, banners, flex, buntings, flags (irrespective of thickness).
