GUWAHATI: The body of Abdul Rashid, one of five prisoners who escaped from Morigaon district jail during the Durga Puja celebrations, was discovered on Monday, October 14 in a pond in Lahorighat, according to reports.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, seeking to determine whether it was accidental or a result of foul play.
The escape occurred in the early hours of October 11, when the five undertrial prisoners, all facing charges under the POCSO Act, broke out of their barracks. Reports indicate they used blankets and bed sheets, and lungis to scale the nearly 20-foot-high prison walls after cutting through the iron rods.
Meanwhile, police have intensified their manhunt for the remaining escapees: Saifuddin, Jiarul Islam, Nur Islam, and Mafidul.
