Bodoland Territorial Council Polls on April 4

GUWAHATI: The Assam State Election Commission officials on March 11 announced that the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections will be held on April 4.

The polling will be held from 8 AM till 4 PM while the counting of votes is scheduled to take place on April 8, from 8 AM onwards.

It is to be mentioned that BTAD consists of four Districts- Kokraghar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri. With a total of 40 constituencies in BTC, as many as 3077 polling stations will be set up.

This time a total of 23,86,359 voters will casts their votes and out of which 12.9 lakh voters are male while 11.76 lakh are female voters. According to the election commissioner, there is an increase of 3.25 lakhs voters from the previous election.

The state election panel has set March 18 as the last date for filing nominations and the candidates can file their nominations for the BTC elections between 11 am to 3 pm.

It is to be mentioned that this will be first election after an agreement was signed between Bodo groups and the centre.
