BJP will exist, but Assam will end now : Mira Borthakur on Cabinet's Approval of Citizenship Amendment Bill

GUWAHATI: The Cabinet today approved the Citizenship Amendment Bill which have triggered huge furore within the people of Assam.

People from all over the state of Assam have united to raise their voice against Sarbananda led BJP Government.

Speaking to G Plus, Mira Borthakur, former spokesperson and Media Convenor of BJP, Assam, said that she strongly opposes the bill which has put the identity of the entire state at stake.

She has further alleged that there is a strong political agenda behind the whole issue and all the incidents of involving Assamese people to protest against the bill was planned. "If the bill gets passed, first we will lose our language. And, if our language is lost, how can our identity exist?" questioned Borthakur.

Borthakur also alleged that BJP Government has always taken Assam and Assamese identity for granted and used the community only for political benefits. "Today, it's a matter of shame that our own people who boasts of Jaati, Maati and Bheti, could not stand up to the slogan," added Borthakur.
