Biggest-ever Jet Fuel price cut by 14.7%; costs less than Petrol and Diesel

GUWAHATI: Jet fuel price was cut by 14.7 percent, a record number which now marks the price of ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel) cheaper than both petrol and diesel.

The price reduction has brought ATF rates to their lowest levels in a financial year and it will provide a much-required relief to airlines struggling to stay afloat.

The ATF price was cut by INR 9,990 per kilolitre (1,000 litres). It went from INR 68,050.97 to INR 58,060.97 per kilolitre, according to the price notification issued by state-owned oil firms. This cut in fuel prices is the biggest cut ever and second straight monthly reduction in rates. Earlier, prices were slashed on December 1 by INR 8,327.83 per kilolitre, or 10.9%.

A litre of petrol, used in automobiles costs Rs 68.03 in Guwahati as compared to Rs 58,060.97 per kilolitre or Rs 58.06 per litre price for ATF. A litre of diesel, which is mostly used as fuel in trucks and buses, comes for Rs 64.96 per litre.

Rates vary from city to city depending on local taxes. State-owned fuel retailers revise rates of ATF on the first day of every month based on average international oil rates and rupee-US dollar exchange rates in the preceding month. However, petrol and diesel prices are revised on a daily basis.
