Bhutan rainfall triggers flood alert in Assam

GUWAHATI: A prediction about heavy to very heavy rainfall in Bhutan in the next 24-hours has triggered flood alert in at least five districts in western Assam.

Heavy rains reported on the hills of Bhutan on Wednesday, June 26 increased the water levels in some rivers in Chirang, Baksa, Kokrajhar and South Salmara districts in Assam and submerged some of the areas in those districts.

Heavy downpour in those districts has also led to a rise in water levels in some of the rivers in the area.
