Bhupen Hazarika’s house to be Featured in Kolkata’s Heritage list

GUWAHATI: Amidst the ongoing CAA protests, in a good news for the people of Assam, music maestro Bhupen Hazarika’s house will soon make it to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation’s (KMC) heritage building list.

On the recent List of Heritage, his three-storeyed 77/B, Tollygunge Golf Club Home at ward no. 94 was enlisted.

It is to be mentioned that the maestro started his career as a singer in Kolkata and stayed there most of his time since 1956. But from the early 90s the home remained under lock and key as he shifted to Mumbai.

However, the KMC is yet to decide the Heritage Grade of the residence.

It is to be mentioned that at present there are 1,200 houses of the city in the KMC Heritage list.
