GUWAHATI: A Travelling Ticketing Examiner (TTE) of the Bangalore Railway Division was suspended after a video went viral on social media showing him making derogatory remarks to student passengers of the northeast region travelling on the Shramik train service.
According to reports, the ticket examining officer is seen entering a compartment in which the students from the northeast were travelling and started shouting and ordering the female students to sit in specific places and to remove the luggage which they had kept in front of the seats.
As seen in the video, when one of the male students rose from his seat to move the luggage to the top berth, the TTE, who till then had been ordering to rearrange the baggage, shouted at him to get back to his seat. While the students sat maintaining required social distance, the officer could be heard remarking sarcastically, "If you want to observe social distancing, then travel by a flight."

In addition to this, he could be heard asking how much money the students have given to the police to afford the service.
The incident took place on May 19 on a Shramik Special train to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal from the Cantonment Railway station that carried a good number of students from the northeast.
The viral video was tweeted widely on other social media sites including Twitter by tagging the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and the official handle of the Railway Ministry.
Meanwhile, Divisional Railway Manager, AK Verma profusely apologized on Twitter to the students for the TTE's indecent behaviour and reportedly the TTE was suspended from service. "We have immediately placed him on suspension,” went the Tweet.
