GUWAHATI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly decided to allow Indian cricketers to have their families present for only one match during the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

The decision follows stricter regulations imposed on players’ family time after India’s poor performances in recent overseas Test series, including the 1-3 defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
According to reports, players will now need prior approval from the board to bring their families (parents or wives) to a match.
The Indian team suffered consecutive Test series losses to New Zealand and Australia, leading to growing concerns within the BCCI. Reports suggested that dressing room tensions and off-field controversies affected the team’s performance, prompting the board to restrict personal time with family during tours.
The restrictions come after multiple controversies during the Australian tour, including the unexpected retirement of Ravichandran Ashwin, an unnamed player reportedly projecting himself as an interim captain, and Rohit Sharma opting out of the final Test match. The BCCI is keen to ensure the team remains fully focused on training and team cohesion during upcoming major tournaments.
