Barauni-Guwahati Pipeline To Supply Gas To Guwahati By End Of 2023

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government, in collaboration with various oil and natural gas companies including NRL, GAIL, IGGL, IOCL, OIL, AGCL, APL, Adani Gas, and ONGC, organised the GAS CONCLAVE 2023, where it was announced that the Barauni-Guwahati Pipeline is set to supply gas to Guwahati by the end of the year.

The day-long brainstorming workshop which took place at the Assam Administrative Staff College in Khanapara, Guwahati delved into the opportunities and challenges surrounding the utilisation of natural gas. 

The inaugural session was attended by Bimal Bora, the Minister of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprise Department. The technical sessions featured presentations by key players in the natural gas sector, including producers (OIL, ONGC, Vedanta Cairns, Oilmax, and HOECL), transporters (GAIL, IGGL, and DNPL), distributors (AGCL, Purba Bharati Gas Private Ltd., Adani Total Gas Ltd., and NEGDCL), end-users (NRL, BCPL, APL, Assam Power Generation Company Limited, ABITA representing the tea industry, and Maruti and Toyota representing the CNG vehicle industry), and regulatory authorities (Transport Department, Environment and Forest Department, Mines and Minerals Department, and PCBA).

They discussed their current status, prospects, and various issues, fostering dialogue between stakeholders and the State Government. They also addressed the issues raised during the presentations and collectively resolved to take coordinated actions.
