Avoid Visiting Kamakhya Temple At Night During Ambubachi, Assam CM Urges Devotees

GUWAHATI: Due to the ongoing construction of the Maligaon flyover, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged devotees not to visit the Kamakhya Temple at night during the Ambubachi Mela, which starts on June 22.

This decision was made after Himanta Biswa Sarma set a deadline for the completion of the flyover due to the severe traffic congestion caused by the construction and the occurrence of several freaky accidents.

During a press briefing, CM Sarma stated, "I urge devotees not to visit Kamakhya Temple at night during Ambubachi Mela, as they have in previous years, to avoid significant traffic congestion. Additionally, no rituals are performed at night, so I ask that you refrain from visiting during those hours due to the ongoing flyover construction."

As Guwahati prepares for Ambubachi Mela, residents in and around Maligaon are concerned about the possibility of traffic congestion and accidents.

In a recent directive regarding the construction work on the Maligaon flyover, the Assam government stated that intensive construction work on the bridge should be done between 10 PM and 6 AM.

The CM further said that if people visit the temple during these construction hours, the work might be delayed and the safety of individuals compromised.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the ‘sadhus’ had been instructed to avoid gathering in large numbers
