GUWAHATI: An assistant professor at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar has been suspended after a female student accused him of molestation on March 20.

According to the student, she was called to the professor’s office, where he allegedly made an inappropriate proposal and attempted to touch her. Shocked, she managed to escape and later reported the incident.
The Assam Police have taken up the complaint, though an official FIR is yet to be registered. Meanwhile, the NIT administration has suspended the professor as an immediate step while an inquiry is conducted.
The incident has sparked concern among students, with many demanding strict action to ensure campus safety.
