Assam's Debangana Tanti Selected For Representing India In Children's Asian Games Russia

 

GUWAHATI: Debangana Tanti, hailing from Biswanath Chariali, Assam, has been chosen to represent India in the upcoming Sub Junior Asian Games, also known as the Children's Asian Games, scheduled to take place in Yakutsk, Russia, from June 25 to July 7.

The wrestler, trained under local coach Pinku Barua, and will compete in the Under-55kg classic style belt wrestling category.

Nitish Ranjin Das, Chairman of Assam Wrestling and Pankration Association, along with President Rumi Chanda, extended their congratulations to Debangana on her selection.

Currently undergoing training at the Nagaland Police Training Centre (NTPC) under the guidance of national coach Jumu, Debangana aims to make her mark on the international stage.

Notably, the third North East Games held in Nagaland recently featured a belt wrestling event where Dishmrita Kachari from Goalpara, Assam, secured the sole medal for the state.
