GUWAHATI: Guwahati police arrested Rituparna Das in connection to the death of popular Assamese singer Karabi Das, who was found hanging inside his residence on Wednesday, August 7 at Srimantapur area in Guwahati.
According to reports, post-Karabi’s demise, a diary was recovered wherein she wrote about the torture she was going through. In her dairy, Karabi mentioned that “Rituparna used to hit her on her head..Slapped her. He also threatened her by saying that if she left him, she won’t be able to stay in the music industry.”
Karabi's elder brother while speaking to media said, “After our father expired on 18th November 2018, he (Ritu) showered sympathy to Karabi and came closer to her. Maybe Ritu has taken photos of Karabi by which he was blackmailing her to take advantage."

Meanwhile, police have gathered enough evidence against Ritu which proves that Karabi eventually had to commit suicide.
Guwahati Commissioner of Police, Deepak Kumar speaking to media said, "From the suicide note, whatever information is required we are gathering everything and we have also arrested her lover."
"We are also trying to find out what made Karabi, a well-known singer, take this drastic step that too at her lover's place," he added.
It is to be mentioned that the tragic incident has lead to a pall of gloom among her friends, family and also fans who are now eagerly waiting for justice for the singer.
