GUWAHATI: A youth from Assam completed the ‘Chaar Dham’ yatra on a bicycle. The youth Roshan Kumar Pandit travelled 6,800 kilometres on his cycle and completed his journey on Monday after he reached Tinsukia. It took him 3 months and 12 days to complete the trip on a bicycle that he bought after saving money by working in a hardware shop.

A resident of Napakhuri Jyotinagar in Tinsukia, Roshan begun his ‘Chaar Dham’ yatra on April 25. His mission was to spread awareness about Fit India Movement, Save Tree and Save Earth. Roshan cycled through Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath in Uttarakhand returning back to Assam on August 8.

Cycling all the way from Assam, Roshan reached Yamunotri Temple on May 27, Gangotri Dham on June 2, Kedarnath Temple on June 8, and Badrinath Temple on June 15. During his journey to Char Dham he travelled through Assam, Meghalaya, West bengal, Bihar, UP and Delhi.

He received help and support from the local people who helped him with food and accommodation. As the people came to know that he was travelling from Assam they supported him. Roshan mostly stayed at Gurudwaras during his stoppage.

Talking to G Plus, Roshan said that he was a NCC cadet and learnt many things during his NCC training days. He was taught about the harmful effects of pollutants on the environment and so he got motivation and decided to go for a ‘Chaar Dham’ yatra by bicycle as it would cause zero pollution.

Roshan also mentioned that his family supported and motivated him for his journey and without their support it would have been very difficult for him to complete the mission. He said that he could have travelled to ‘Chaar Dham’ by bus or other modes of transport but he didn’t want to harm the environment and living beings so he completed his ‘Chaar Dham’ yatra on his self-earned bicycle.
