GUWAHATI: In a heart-wrenching incident at Barpeta Road Railway Station, a woman tragically lost her life after slipping off a moving train and falling into the tracks on Thursday. The victim has been identified as Suratan Nessa, a 60-year-old resident of the Gobardhana area in Barpeta.
According to eyewitness accounts, the unfortunate incident occurred when Nessa, accompanied by her family members, arrived at the railway station to bid farewell to her daughter, who was embarking on a journey to Delhi. Tragedy struck as the train began to depart, prompting Nessa to make a hasty attempt to disembark.
In her urgency to alight from the moving train, Nessa lost her footing and accidentally fell onto the tracks, suffering fatal injuries on the spot. The incident unfolded in a matter of seconds, leaving the family and onlookers in shock and devastation.
The news of Nessa's untimely demise spread rapidly, causing an uproar of grief and sorrow both within her family and the railway station premises. Passengers and railway staff rushed to the scene, but the severity of the accident made it impossible to save Nessa's life.
The woman's injuries proved fatal, and she was declared deceased at the scene.
