GUWAHATI: A woman was arrested in Kamrup (Rural) district’s Bathan village on Thursday, June 6 on charges of allegedly killing her husband along with her love interest.
As per reports, Anju Das was having an extramarital affair with Tapan Das and the duo killed Anju’s husband, Prafulla Das, by choking him to death using a gamocha on June 2.

Reportedly, Anju confessed to committing the crime with Tapan Das during police interrogation.
After the duo strangulated Prafulla, they dragged his body out of his residence and threw it in the river Brahmaputra. Further, the woman had also lodged a missing report of her husband with the Sualkuchi police on June 3.
In the meantime, the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) has also launched a rescue operation in Brahmaputra to recover Prafulla’s body.
