Assam Wants Congress Back, Claims Ripun Bora

GUWAHATI: The people of Assam want Congress to be back in power, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief Ripun Bora stated.

Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and APCC President, Ripun Bora took to Twitter to express his disapproval against the CAA saying, “It was the Congress that brought Assam out of conflict and militancy. It was Amit Shah's Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) that pushed Assam back into conflict, curfews, and violence. Without peace, there can be no progress. Assam wants Congress back.”

“The people of Assam have lost the right to dissent, the right to express, the right to write on social media platforms, or even display solidarity for their peers. It is a pressing issue that Civil Liberty and all institutions of our democracy are under attack,” the APCC stated in a press release.

The statement was made ahead of the visit by Union Minister Amit Shah.
