GUWAHATI: A proposal for the construction of an underwater tunnel in the river Brahmaputra has been in the works, said Assam Chief Minister (CM), Himanta Biswa Sarma, while addressing the media on Wednesday, September 14.
The tunnel will stretch from Nagaon, starting from the Kaliabor Tea Estate to Jamuguri on the other side and will have provisions for both roadways and railways.

“The project is being considered a priority at the moment and I am hopeful that the center will approve the construction of this tunnel,” CM Sarma told the media.
