GUWAHATI: The Assam cabinet has introduced an initiative to implement a new town water supply scheme in Lala, located in Hailakandi district, at an estimated cost of ₹40 crore.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed this in a press conference following the six-hour long marathon meeting held on Monday, May 5.
The initiative was previously discussed during another cabinet meeting in Silchar and has been introduced to improve water accessibility in the region.
In the same meeting, the cabinet also approved targeted and normal subsidies totalling ₹500 crore for APDCL to compensate for reduced electricity tariffs.
