GUWAHATI: A life-sized statue of Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, will be installed near the entrance of Janata Bhawan, the Assam Secretariat, by August 15.

This was revealed by State Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika on Friday, February 7. “A life-size statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji, the architect of our Constitution, will be installed near the entrance of Janata Bhawan by 15 August, 2025,” Hazarika posted on X.
“In accordance with the instructions of HCM Dr. @himantabiswa Dangoriya, I visited the site yesterday evening to discuss the progress of installation process with senior officials of the PWD and urged them to ensure that all preparations are on track,” he added.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the significance of Ambedkar’s thoughts and their role in guiding the state government following the update. “The thoughts of revered Babasaheb are a source of inspiration for our government,” he stated on X. “Paying tribute to his unparalleled contributions to the building of the nation, we will install a grand statue of him at the entrance of the Assam Secretariat.”
The state government has taken the initiative to complete this project before Independence Day.
