GUWAHATI: The Assam government has revealed plans to construct a Kamakhya Temple in the state of Maharashtra. The announcement follows a positive response from Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who expressed support for the collaborative project.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared details of the collaboration, emphasising the cooperative effort between states to build a Kamakhya Temple and a Namghar in Maharashtra. "When Eknath Shinde came to Assam, I proposed building a Kamakhya Temple and also a Namghar in Maharashtra," media quoted CM Sarma.
He further mentioned that Shinde readily accepted the proposal and invited him to Mumbai for in-depth discussions. Sarma expressed eagerness to meet his Maharashtra counterpart to further discuss and finalise the project.
The Assam CM revealed that the government plans to construct the Kamakhya Temple on state-owned land near Mumbai. The Kamakhya Temple in Assam is one of India's revered Shakti Peethas, attracting pilgrims and tourists from across the nation.
