The Assam Cabinet during a meeting held on Tuesday announced the new Handloom Policy and Bio Tech Policy and in the meeting conveyed the following decisions:
- Assam to be the hub of Sugar Industry
- 'Bhai Phonta' declared as Restricted Holiday in Assam
- Assam Govt requests all to cooperate during the first investment summit of Assam to be held in Feb, 2018
- New Industrial Region - 150 sq km
- New Handloom Policy
- New Bio Tech Policy
- MoU signed with Telengana to promote startups in Assam along with the setting up of a new incubation centre in Guwahati
- Plans to promote Golf Tourism to attract foreign tourists
- Assam Govt to give 1.5 lakh rupees to each employee for Software development
