Assam To Attempt Setting Nine New Guinness World Records In Reforestation

GUWAHATI: In a bid to promote environmental conservation and reforestation, the Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2023 is set to make its mark on the world stage by attempting to break nine Guinness World Records. These record-breaking feats will take place across various categories, some aiming to establish entirely new records, while others seek to surpass existing benchmarks.

A new record of the largest line/spiral of saplings will be attempted on September 9 at Veterinary Ground, Guwahati. The venue will also be the scene for the attempt to break the largest number of seedlings distributed in one day at one venue the next day. The existing record is 76,824 seedlings held by Uttar Pradesh.

Residents of Udalguri will try to set a new benchmark of most trees planted by a team in 24 hours as they aim to plant 8,47,275 trees on September 14. Similarly, residents of Dibrugarh will attempt to break the record of most trees planted in one hour on September 15. The existing record is 3,03,150 trees currently held by Turkey.

Residents of Digboi will attempt to break the record of the largest planted tree mosaic on September 16. The existing record is 21,825.74 square metres, again held by Turkey.

Residents of Sivasagar will attempt to plant the most number of trees planted by a team of 100 in an hour on September 17. The existing record is 49,672 trees held by Bhutan.

An attempt will also be made online to break the record of the largest photo album of people planting trees on September 17, which currently stands at 3,83,783 held by Turkey. An attempt to create a new record of most pledges taken to plant trees and protect them is currently underway.

Another attempt at the largest nature conservation lesson in online mode will be undertaken on September 11, aiming for 7,500 persons connected.
