Fire At Assam's Agia Rubber Godown, ₹10 Crore Loss Estimated

 

GUWAHATI: A fire broke out at a rubber godown belonging to Agia Agro Pvt Ltd in Agia Paharkata on Thursday, May 1, at around 8:00 AM. Multiple fire tenders from Lakhipur, Boko, Abhayapuri, Dudhnoi, and Goalpara were deployed to control the blaze.

Preliminary suspicions point to lightning as the possible cause of the fire. A tree located near the godown was also affected.

Sanjib Kumar Rai, a supplier associated with the rubber godown, said: "The fire started in the morning. We suspect it was caused by lightning. A tree close to the godown was struck as well. The estimated loss is around ₹10 crore."

Attempts to reach local police for a statement were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
