GUWAHATI: A student of Tezpur University was arrested on Wednesday, October 27, for allegedly raping a fellow female batchmate on the University campus for three days, police said.
The incident of "sexual assault and harassment" took place on October 13, 15, and 16. The accused has been identified as Kaushal Agarwal.
Speaking to G Plus Dhananjay P Ghanawat, Superintendent of Police (SP), Sonitpur said, "The boy was arrested on Wednesday. The Sonitpur District Judiciary court upon finding a prima facie case, and sent him to judicial custody Accordingly, he has been lodged in the Tezpur Central Jail. A case no. 2375 under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against him in the Tezpur Police Station".
G Plus made several attempts to reach the officials of the Tezpur University authorities but did not get a response till the publishing of this report.
