GUWAHATI: A labourer working in a Tea Factory in the Jorhat district of Assam, who had previously sustained critical injuries while on duty, tragically succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.

The deceased, identified as Bhaskar Mahanti, passed away at the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), where he was undergoing treatment for the grievous injuries he had sustained, as confirmed by the Superintendent of Police, Jorhat, to G Plus.

The event took place on August 22, when Bhaskar was engaged in his regular duty of unloading freshly plucked tea leaves brought in from the surrounding gardens at the Tyroon Tea Factory, located in Titabor.

As part of his duties, he proceeded towards the section housing the CTC (Crush, Tear, Curl) machine. Tragically, it was here that his right leg became entangled in the machinery, leading to the catastrophic incident.

Immediate actions were taken, and Bhaskar was transported to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital to receive urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, his injuries proved to be grievous, and he breathed his last on Monday morning.
