Nitin Gadkari Reviews National Highway Projects Across Assam

 

GUWAHATI: In a review meeting held on Tuesday, October 22 in New Delhi, Nitin Gadkari focused on highway development projects across Assam, encompassing a vast network of 1,001 kilometres. The session focused on the timely completion of 57 essential National Highway projects involving various implementing agencies.

During the meeting, Gadkari was urged to expedite several key infrastructure projects critical to enhancing connectivity in the region. The stakeholders requested the early completion of the Jorhat-Dibrugarh Highway and discussed the approved alignment for the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor. 

Additionally, attention was also drawn to the Gohpur-Numaligarh Tunnel under the Brahmaputra, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) nearing completion. 

Furthermore, the four-laning of the Baihata Chariali-Tezpur highway stretch was highlighted as a means to improve traffic flow, along with the re-tendering of the Majuli bridge connecting Kamalabari and Nimati Ghat to enhance access to the river island.

The meeting saw the participation of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the members of Parliament from Assam to drive forward the development agenda for  highway infrastructure.
