GUWAHATI: The Assam tableau had secured the first position in the 71st Republic Day parade. Defence minister Rajnath Singh will be handing over the trophies to the winning states today at Rashtriya Rangshala Camp in Delhi.
Himanta Biswa Sarma took to his twitter handle, “A moment of pride. On a day we signed the historic #Bodo Peace Accord, an icing on the cake came in form of news of Assam's tableau at parade showcasing Bhortal Nritya, a Sattriya art form, and Cane & Bamboo handicraft, bagging the first prize. Congratulations.”
Apart from Assam Odisha and Andhra Pradesh have together bagged the second prize, while the third prize was given to Uttar Pradesh.
Assam’s tableau displayed the bamboo and cane handicrafts of the state along with Bhortal dance form.
