GUWAHATI: SEBA’s latest notification has created tension among the students and guardians. Soon after SEBA’s notification was released there was uproar in the media about it. On Tuesday, Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu urged everyone not to create misunderstandings about the HLSC exams.

Talking to reporters Ranoj Pegu said, “There is some misunderstanding regarding the HSLC examinations. In 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the matriculation syllabus was reduced by 30 percent. With the change in circumstances, SEBA decided to drop another 10 percent syllabus. SEBA took this decision in 2021 to compress a total of 40 percent of the syllabus and prepared the questions accordingly.”

“No exams were held in 2021. For the year 2022 SEBA has again given the same compressed 40 percent syllabus. The present syllabus and the one prepared before the exams in 2021 are the same. The question papers for the 2021 HSLC were prepared with the compressed 40 percent syllabus and not 30 percent,” added Ranoj Pegu.

The minister said that as there were no exams, the packets remained unopened and were kept under complete security.

“We will provide the same question papers this time and the students don't need to worry about it. The question papers will be based on the syllabus given earlier. I am clarifying that there will be nothing outside that syllabus. The board has its responsibility and we should not create misunderstanding,” said Ranoj Pegu.
