Assam: Students Cross River On Banana Stems To Reach School

GUWAHATI: In a small village in Darrang district in Assam, children wake up to start the day with a real, life-threatening challenge to reach their school.

These kids risk their lives by crossing a small river on banana stems to reach their school. They follow the same route to get back home. In addition to that, they also have to wait their turn as there are only a few facilitators who help these children cross the river.

This dangerous daily routine of kids manoeuvred by a man in water has been captured on video which has been reported by ANI.

Development is seriously lacking in these interior parts of the state and basic facilities are desperately needed to help those in need.
