According to reports, the student had returned to Bhubaneswar from his hometown on December 24, accompanied by his father. They had dinner together that evening before his father stayed in a hotel overnight. The next morning, the father received a call from his son, and they planned to visit the Jagannath Temple in Puri later that day. However, when his son stopped responding to his repeated phone calls, the father grew anxious.

The father later received a distress call from his younger son in Assam, who had received an audio message from the deceased. Rushing to the hostel, the father found the door locked from the inside. With the help of some students, he broke open the door and discovered his son hanging from the ceiling fan around 10:30 AM.

The body was shifted to the hospital’s casualty department. Despite attempts to revive him with CPR and other lifesaving measures, the student was pronounced dead.

Police investigations revealed a suicide note in which the student stated that no one was responsible for his death and expressed frustration with his life. In the audio message to his younger brother, he urged him to stay in Assam and pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. He also advised against selling their family land.

The local police have registered a case of unnatural death and are continuing their inquiries.
