Assam Cabinet Approves 'Modernisation' Of Land Records

GUWAHATI: In a recent move to modernise and enhance Land Record Management, the Assam Cabinet has given its nod to the optimisation of patta types through a Harmonised System of Nomenclature (HSN). The decision aims to overcome hindrances in the existing land tenure representation within the state.

The optimisation process addresses the limitations posed by certain types of patta, which, in the current context, do not offer a clear and comprehensive depiction of land tenure. By adopting the HSN, the Assam Cabinet aims to bring about greater clarity and efficiency in land record management.

The harmonisation of patta types is expected to streamline the land administration process, facilitating more accurate and transparent documentation of land tenures. This decision aims to leverage technology and modern systems to improve governance and provide citizens with a more effective and responsive land management framework.

The optimised patta types, guided by the HSN, are poised to contribute to a more robust and future-ready land administration infrastructure in Assam. This move is anticipated to have a positive impact on the overall ease of doing business, property transactions, and land-related legal processes within the state.
